We would like to thank Erik Roy, from Ross Furniture & Dover Main Street Board member, St. Thomas Aquinas HS Music Director, Brenda LaForce, and the STAHS Chamber singers for leading the Dover Main Street "Mob" Caroling event. An incognito soloist, casually hanging out in the courtyard, led the way with snowflakes falling, belting out the first verse of "The Twelve Days of Christmas". To the surprise of passers-by, she was joyfully joined by the other participants scattered throughout the mill courtyard! 11 Photos Dover Main Street, Inc., Seacoast Local, our merchants and community, came out decked in plaid to celebrate Plaid Friday 2012- the local shopping alternative to Black Friday! This event kicked off the holiday shopping season to a strong start in downtown- as people chose to spend money in their community. Even Santa and our Mounted Police Unit were decked in plaid! 19 Photos Since early 2000 Santa's Workshop had been in storage, and during that time suffered damage by vandals. A group of volunteers, led by Dover Main Street, restored it to full glory in three weeks.
Many thanks to our Dover Main Street volunteers: Ross Furniture, Central Paint, Mandias Consulting, Glass Routes, Newsky Electrical Contracting, Sprague Floor Covering, Ryan's Tree Service, Andrew Clark of Strafford Applicances, Robert Carrier, Cynthia Design Studios, Community Services and our Dover PD and Fire Department. 45 Photos Federal Savings Bank sponsored 2,500 reusable Discover Dover tote bags which Dover Main Street distributed at the holiday parade from a grand parade float sponsored by Ross Furniture! We had a great turn out of volunteers and their families to help spread the word to shop local this holiday season- inside the bag were great promotions from downtown businesses! 27 Photos
